Take the Ferry to Coronado for a Playdate By The Bay

FUN SAN DIEGO DATE IDEA: Ferry to Coronado for a "play" date by the Bay | DATEOXYGEN.COM

It’s actually been scientifically proven…if you’re aiming to stay together, you gotta play together. On this playdate, you’ll (hopefully) release your inner kids along San Diego Bay in Coronado. What kid doesn’t love a ride on a boat? So, hop the ferry to Coronado from downtown San Diego to Ferry Landing. Hopefully by the time you arrive, you’ll have regressed to an age that a surrey ride is a major highlight. Pedal to your young at hearts’ content around the quaint neighborhood streets and along the waterfront. Stop at the park and gaze at clouds or fly a kite. Once you’re back at the Landing, eat dessert first then most every kid’s favorite dinner.

Remember how much you loved to smooch as a (teenage) kid? Well, there are MANY spots to do so on the path of this playdate. Don’t miss our favorite at the intersection of First Street and I Avenue.

  • Let your date know to wear shoes and clothes that are conducive with pedaling.
  • Park in the metered parking along N. Harbor Drive…two hours isn’t enough, so be sure and snag a longer term spot.
  • If you’d rather bypass the parking hassle and really be a kid, take the trolley to the Santa Fe Depot station and walk (appx 1/2 mile) to Broadway Pier. You can also catch the ferry to Coronado at the Convention Center, which has a massive parking garage. (Note on the ferry schedule that there are less frequent stops at this location.)
  • If you just can’t part with your pride, rent bikes (or bring your own!)
  • Check Restaurant.com for a Village Pizzeria gift certificate.
